Summer is an amazing time to learn and practice plant ID! Notice all of the details of flowers - how many petals, petal shape, ovary, sepals, pistils.... The beauty and uniqueness of flowers is incredible. Discover how they are designed to maximize reproduction and the difference between male and female flowers. Learn how flowers from the same plant family are similar and what that means.

Our NEW Walk + Learn Plant ID series cultivates a deeper understanding and appreciation of the plants in your area. Through careful observation you will notice the uniqueness and similarities of plants, the families they belong to, botanical and common names and more. Practice using a field guide to key out 5-10 plants and/or trees during each walk. You will be guided by our experienced natural resource manager through various natural places in our region. Sign up for a walk near you, or take a journey and discover a new nature destination.

$20 per individual or register with a partner for $35. The series of 6 walks is $100.

Guide: Casey Sullivan, Natural Resource Manager, Argonne National Laboratory
