Forest Therapy Wellness Walk: Winter

Take time to improve your health, reduce your stress during the busy holiday season, and experience pleasure while on a guided leisurely walk in nature on the farm. This is time to nurture yourself, to relax, engage your senses, and bathe in the pleasures of your surroundings.  On these wellness walks you will be introduced to fun, deep ways of connecting with nature that can dramatically increase the benefits of being outside.  Attend this series of walks to learn these skills so that you can apply them to your everyday life.

We may warm up by the fire, or end inside for some nature treats!

This will be a slow and quiet walk through the property in grass and garden areas. You will be invited by your guide to engage with the environment and offered opportunities to share what you noticed.  Awakening your senses through nature is a wonderful way to improve your own well-being so that you can be a better, more balanced partner, parent, caregiver, employee or employer. Time spent on yourself is well spent and well deserved!

Please dress comfortably and appropriately for walking, sitting on the ground, and moving through plants. You may bring a blanket/mat/pillow to sit on. Bring water, warm beverage and anything else you need for your comfort like a hat, scarf, snow pants, boots, hand/toe warmers, or walking stick.

Phones and cameras are best left in your car. We want you to let go of responsibilities during your Forest Therapy walk and immerse yourself in the experience without distraction.

Please complete the Forest Therapy Participant Agreement & Release for Brenda when you arrive for the walk.

Brenda Spitzer will be your guide.  Brenda completed Forest Therapy Guide Training led by Amos Clifford and Maria Buitenhaus of the Association of Nature & Forest Therapy at The Morton Arboretum in 2015 and has guided hundreds of people on forest therapy walks through her work at the Morton Arboretum and volunteer work at other locations.

Tuition*:

$25 per individual walk

$80 for the series of four

Registration is necessary by Wednesday before each walk.  Walk-ins cannot be accommodated. To host a walk we need a minimum of 4 people and a maximum of 10.  Walks will run rain or shine, so please dress appropriately and bring appropriate gear.  If terribly inclement weather, we will meet inside and have an alternate nature connection option.  We may also have a fire in the outdoor firepit for warming.
