The Resiliency Institute offers courses, classes and events that empower people to live, grow, and build resilient lifestyles, landscapes and communities. Take courses like Permaculture Forest Gardener, Bioregional Herbalism, and Edible Wild Plants. Join us for Nature Rx with Shinrin-yoku/Forest Therapy, and Forest Yoga. Women can connect monthly during WILD Woman Project Circles. Find us throughout the Chicagoland area speaking and exhibiting about fruit tree guilds, permaculture, growing food security, renewable energy, and resiliency. Enjoy opportunities to connect at our plant sales, Permablitzs, potlucks, fundraisers and more.
Because of the complementary self-care benefits of yoga to permaculture and resilience, we are offering yoga located on The Conservation Foundation’s historic McDonald Farm. When the weather allows, we will experience yoga outside, surrounded by forest gardens and nature. We will move through vinyasa, pranayama, meditation, and craft an herbal tea with plants from the garden and farm.
Class is family-friendly. Beginners are welcome.
Bring a yoga mat if you have one, and beach towel or cushion.
Class will be held outdoors weather permitting, or indoors in the case of inclement weather.
June 21: $15 (Registration deadline Friday, June 19)
Pre-registration is required.
Please make us aware of any physical limitations so that class can be welcoming for all; however, if limitations are significant, please consider private yoga sessions with Allison as an alternative.
Class is taught by Dr. Allison Mitch, a physical therapist and healing arts practitioner (yoga, reiki), ecologist, part time professor, and mom – an eclectic professional and personal mix that birthed her own WILD woman through the recognition of the connection and depth with all of life. In her circles, she seeks to create a sacred and inviting space for self-reflection, meditation, healing, and re-connection with nature for the return of soulfulness, or “re-wilding.”
