Permaculture is about creating community, and what better way to do that then by volunteering. We are currently an all volunteer organization, so if you have a skill to share, let us know how you would like to contribute.

PERMABLITZ VOLUNTEERS

Thank you to all of the Permablitz volunteers who worked on our first project, a demonstration forest garden on The Conservation Foundation’s McDonald Farm in Naperville. This fall we hosted three Permablitz events where volunteers:

• Cleared the site of rocks and miscellaneous materials
• Mowed/trimmed area
• Removed 3 trees and trimmed remaining 3 trees (saved wood for hugelkultur)
• Dug swales on contour, rain gardens and spillways
• Built hugelkultur beds and berms
• Planted fruit trees and bulbs
• Sheet mulched the area

Volunteers will be needed in the spring of 2014 to create the pathways, build arbors and bridges, plant, plant, and plant! People interested in learning about forest garden design, plants, and installation are invited to participate. We will post Permablitz days on our calendar, Facebook page, and via emails, so follow us and sign up to help.
