Volunteer to be a Forest Garden Friend to support the growth of public permaculture edible forest gardens!
Forest Garden Friends are eager to learn about permaculture design and contribute to projects that are growing food security, reconnecting people to nature, and increasing biodiversity. With the support of volunteers like you, The Resiliency Institute community has established two edible forest gardens in 3 years! This is an amazing accomplishment, that is even more amazing because both of these projects were 100% designed, prepped, and planted by volunteers who donated their time, labor, expertise, skills, and resources.
Believe in The Power of Community!
The Whole Foods Market Edible Forest Garden, located on The Conservation Foundation's McDonald Farm, dedication will be May 7th and we want the garden to look beautiful. Throughout April we will be out weeding, installing bridges, signs, plant labels, arbors and more. Join us by signing up to BE A FOREST GARDEN FRIEND.
The Ferry Forest Garden is growing! All of the trees and shrubs were planted last year, and this year, with the help of Forest Garden Friends like you, the perennial edibles, flowers, herbs, and groundcovers will be planted.
On Saturday, February 27th Forest Garden Friends came to The Resiliency Institute to seed 21 trays of perennials to take home and grow until June 12 when we will host a planting PERMABLITZ!
In the meantime, we are looking for Forest Garden Friends who can volunteer time to check on the trees & shrubs already planted, water when necessary, fix protective cages, and help with weeding.
When you sign up to be a Forest Garden Friend, you will receive training and be notified about work days & times. Depending on your level of experience, you can choose to work on your own time, with a mentor, and/or during scheduled group work times.
Join our permaculture community by signing up to be a Forest Garden Friend, then come to our potluck on July 9th to get to know The Resiliency Institute community, enjoy great food, conversation, and meet other forest garden friends!
